‘Salted’ is a new series of works which use watercolour techniques to capture small coves and beaches which are likely to be lost with rising sea levels.

I use satellite technology to observe features of the coastline and then interpret them into layers of watercolour using large brushes and palette knives. The addition of salt into the final stages of the paint process adds texture, context and a title to the series. The transitional nature of the watercolour medium and the use of water in the process is entirely appropriate to the subject matter.
