WATERCOLOUR LANDSCAPES

From 2020 as the world came to a halt with the onset of COVID I began a new journey into watercolour landscape painting. I am fortunate to live in a beautiful valley with many opportunities to work en plein air. Paintings evolve after daily dog walks, from location-based drawings and photography. I love the views of the river and the transitional seasonal changes to the landscape.

In terms of paint application. I enjoy the challenges of watercolour together with the unexpected and accidental effects that can be achieved. My process involves the use of large flat brushes and a small palette knife for the majority of detail work. I also use pigments sprinkled into the wet paint and small touches of oil pastel.
